Apostle Islands Weather Resources
In the Apostle Islands the weather can change very fast and Lake Superior is dangerous. You will find the weather information is most accurate in the summer. In the Spring and Fall forecasts change 2 hours before they arrive and are more often wrong and weather that was not forecasted will roll in. As a general rule your best months for weather in the Apostle Islands are July, August, September. By September 21st watch out. In the summer, only trust a forecast 24 hours out. Looking at weather that is 3 or 7 days away is pretty much pointless, it will change by the time it arrives. Here is a list of resources we use to predict weather in the Apostle Islands. When using predictwind you want to use the ECMWF model on 8km. No matter what direction the wind is out of, if it is less than 8 knots it is calm. It is once the wind gets over 8 knots that you’ll start to see waves build.
